Dr Rita Hadley is a seasoned surgeon.

Her practice began in 2002 in Dayton, Ohio where she practiced for 13 years before her move to Phoenix, Arizona in 2015.  She started her general surgery career with a passion for bariatrics.  Working side by side with one of her senior partners, Dr Hadley developed a knowledge and skill set to address many complicated aspects of obesity surgery.  Her technical talents have evolved with technology to not only include advanced laparoscopy, but robotic surgery as well.  She is able to offer her patients all kinds of bariatric procedures, including revision surgery, so that patients get the operation best suited for them.

Dr Hadley has been a leader for her peers and her community.  She has been a medical director for the first Center of Excellence for bariatric surgery in Dayton.  Her enthusiasm for quality and leadership is also evidenced by her role as Chief of Surgery and involvement in many hospital surgical committees.  She continues to grow programs dedicated to the advancement of clinical standards for patient care.

Dr Hadley is a unique physician in that she also has a PhD.

She has an extensive academic background in the study of pain mechanisms.  She brings this background and this expertise to her clinical practice and has been a consultant for the advancement of post-operative pain management.  Dr Hadley utilizes multimodal therapy for pain control so to minimize the need for narcotics.  By diminishing the need and use of narcotics, patients don’t suffer from opioid side effects such as nausea, constipation, drowsiness, or confusion.

In addition, patients are able to leave the hospital sooner because their recovery is easier.  Dr Hadley champions the use of local anesthetics in pumps which deliver numbing medicine to the nerves and tissue that need it; a practice of regional nerve blocks.  This has been shown to provide superior pain management when employed with other modalities…and patients love it!

Dr Hadley is a versatile surgeon, and also manages most general surgery conditions.  Because of her laparoscopic and robotic experience, she manages abdominal conditions related to diverticular disease, colon cancer, gallbladder issues, bowel obstructions, and all kinds of hernias.  Dr Hadley is also a serious proponent of women’s health and has a long history of treating breast cancer and managing the findings of an abnormal mammogram.

Dr Hadley is a mom, a wife, a daughter, a sister, a friend, a coworker, a teacher, a consultant, a pet lover, a book reader… a person who loves her life.  She is blessed by all the people that cross her path.  She strives to also be a blessing to them!
